A groundbreaking ceremony was held on August 8 for our first two single-family homes to be constructed at Silver Creek Village. Those in attendance included representatives from sponsors Village Development Group, Wells Fargo, Think Architecture, Vail EpicPromise, and Summit County. The family who will reside in the first of the two homes was also there to celebrate, in addition to board members, staff, and volunteers.
Silver Creek Village marks Habitat for Humanity of Summit & Wasatch Counties’ most ambitious, robust project to date. Twenty-six homes in total will be designated for the local nonprofit’s beneficiaries.
Thanks to a partnership with Utah Clean Energy, Think Architecture, and energy consultants Nexant, these Silver Creek Village homes will be the first Habitat’s first projects in Utah to be Zero Energy Ready. The homes are to be designed to qualify for the U.S. Department of Energy’s “Zero Energy Ready Home” certification.
