When it comes to weddings, the 30th anniversary is represented by the pearl, which signifies perseverance, growth, and transformation. For our 30th anniversary year, we celebrate these same attributes through our homeowners’ perseverance in bettering their lives, the growth and development of our dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and partners in local government and businesses, and the amazing transformation we’ve made together in Summit and Wasatch counties over these three decades.
Read on to learn more about our 30th anniversary, what we’ve achieved, our goals for the coming year, and how we plan to mark this important milestone.
How Habitat for Humanity Shapes Our Community
Why does Habitat play such an important role in our communities? In the words of former president Jimmy Carter, Habitat’s most famous volunteer, “I think the main thing is to set a goal for all of us that every human being ought to have a decent place in which to live. I think it’s one of the basic human rights, just like freedom of speech and freedom of religion.”
President Carter’s words speak directly to our mission: to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. With your tireless support and contributions, we are able to realize our vision of creating healthy, vibrant communities in our unique mountain towns.
A Look Back on Our 30th Anniversary
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our future homeowners, volunteers, government officials, and local businesses, we’ve been able to build 22 homes in the Wasatch Back for 22 local families.
We’ve also impacted countless lives through these home builds, repairs, financial literacy courses, and housing seminars.
A Look Ahead: What’s Next for Habitat
In addition to our home projects and financial courses, we have spent a great deal of time influencing the housing affordability of the Wasatch Back and advocating for sound, workable housing policies and solutions. With the need for affordable housing growing, this work critically impacts our community.
We plan to continue this vital work going forward, as well as our home builds and repairs, to improve the lives of our homeowners and create opportunities that allow all of us to be our better selves.
Our Year of Celebration
Throughout this milestone 30th anniversary year for our organization, we have a lot of exciting plans, including an extra special gala in June: the Overall Ball featuring Park City Board of REALTORS’ Hats Off to Community Housing. Make sure you stay connected with Habitat to join in the celebrations ahead.
Sign up for our newsletter and follow us on Instagram and Facebook. We will share impactful stories from our archives that reflect our theme of one door, one dream, and one family at a time. We will also share more about our local impact and let you know all about upcoming projects and events you can participate in.
We invite you to get involved with Habitat. Join us on a home build, volunteer at the Park City ReStore, attend an event to learn more about what we do, or join us in advocating for affordable housing in Utah. Working together, we can achieve more than just building homes. We build brighter futures for working members of our community, which strengthens our counties as a whole.
