Why Volunteer with Habitat
For the past 30 years, Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties has been bringing people and organizations together to build homes and hope in our local mountain towns. By renovating and building new homes and providing financial education to prospective homeowners and the broader community, Habitat has created brighter, more stable futures for countless people in the area.
The lack of affordable housing is a growing issue nationwide, and its impact is particularly significant in our area. By supporting housing stability, you help break the cycle of poverty, improve health and educational opportunities, and allow homeowners to focus on their future, as well as increasing their ability to become contributing members of the community in which they live.
Summer Volunteer Opportunities at Habitat
How you choose to volunteer with Habitat depends on your skills and interests. Helping out with home repairs or new home construction is a great way to learn basic construction skills with carpentry, plumbing, painting, landscaping, and more. This is a wonderful group activity for coworkers, families, and friends!
You can also volunteer at the Park City ReStore by assisting customers, sorting donations, or organizing the sales floor for shoppers. And if you have a background in repairing appliances, electronics, or furniture, we’d love your help!
If your strengths lie in event logistics, fundraising, marketing, or administrative tasks – or you want to learn more about these skills – we invite you to join one of our committees and support us in putting on our memorable local events.
And speaking of events, we’re always looking for volunteers to help out at our fundraising events throughout the year. The Overall Ball in June is our big summer party that requires help before, during, and after the event. If you’re interested, just email us at Volunteers@habitat-utah.org—or click here to learn more about the event.
