Volunteering on a home build or contributing your time and skills at ReStore aren’t the only ways to support affordable housing in our mountain towns. There are lots of small ways to make a big difference and help working members of our communities find safe, stable housing.
If you’re not great with a hammer or are short on time, read on for meaningful, important ways to support Habitat’s mission.
5 Ways to Support Affordable Housing
1.Shop at ReStore for great deals
The Park City ReStore thrift store and boutique is full of amazing treasures for your home and wardrobe. If you need building materials for a home improvement project or are ready to redesign your interiors with new furniture, appliances, and decor, you’ll find everything you need here. With prices at 50% to 90% off retail prices, these new and gently used items will brighten up your life without breaking your budget.
2.Donate items you no longer need
How does ReStore get such great items to sell at low prices? Donations from people like you! ReStore accepts everything from flooring and tile to electronics, appliances, bedframes, lumber, housewares, and more. Check out our website for a complete list of what we accept. We make it as easy as possible to make your donations and support affordable housing. The store accepts donations six days a week, Monday through Saturday, between 10:00 am and 4:30 pm. Or we can pick up your items for you. We’ll also work with you on corporate donations of overstock or returns, as well as deconstruction donations from renovation or remodeling projects.
3.Post about Habitat on social media
Your voice on social media is a powerful way to raise awareness about all the work Habitat is doing to support our community. Follow Habitat on Facebook and Instagram to stay connected on our efforts and fundraising events. From sharing about our popular and fun annual events – including the Overall Ball Gala and Holiday Tree auction – to letting your followers know about what we’re working on, there’s lots to share. And if you’ve worked with us, make sure you share your experiences to encourage your followers to support Habitat.
4.Contribute your professional skills
Does your company have items you could donate to our Overall Ball and online auction? Are you skilled in manual or technical trades (carpentry, roofing, electrical) or professional services such as architecture and design? If so, we could use your expertise! In-kind donations like these support our critical work in Summit and Wasatch counties.
5.Become a monthly donor
As a monthly donor, you’ll provide ongoing support of Habitat’s mission all year long, helping families thrive by providing them a safe, stable home that improves their health and economic opportunities. This kind of steady support helps us with budgeting and planning. Any amount makes a significant difference, and you can adjust your contribution at any time. Deductions are made automatically, so you don’t need to remember or take any action to share your ongoing gift to the community. Learn more about our Foundation Builders program.
